Sustainable living with Pulsar direct
G.P Davis and Son has installed Pulsar Infloor into a newly converted warehouse, as part of The Great Bow Yard development in Somerset. The work forms part of a mixed-use development, which uses sustainable and ecological building materials and methods to achieve a more environmentally friendly way of building and living.
Situated on the banks of the River Parrett in Langport, the converted warehouse sits alongside 12 recently built eco-homes. The Grade II listed building has been sympathetically restored using sustainable building techniques, local building contractors and existing materials to house seven self-contained office apartments, workshops and a stylish bistro with gallery, displaying local art.
G.P Davis installed the large 633sq meter warehouse with Pulsar Infloor throughout. The underfloor heating system was specially adapted to facilitate a wood pellet boiler and relies on a boiler pump and water intermix system, to create a more energy efficient and environmentally sound heating system. |

Every aspect of the development was considered for its energy efficiency and impact on the environment. Pulsar direct Infloor, underfloor heating system was able to offer the most energy efficient method of heating the conversion. Using radiant technology, heat is pushed from the floor upwards, rapidly heating the ‘usable’ living area. This form of heating also transfers heat to secondary emitters, such as any furniture in the room, that provide the area with added warmth, and therefore it does not require excessive and un-necessary energy consumption.
“The Great Bow Yard development required a unique approach when it came to the heating system for the warehouse. For this we needed a company that could provide us with a trusted underfloor system and a service we could rely on – Pulsar direct was the obvious choice for us,” said Daryl Davis, owner of Somerset based installers G.P Davis and Son.
Great Bow Yard is Ecos Homes’ first pioneering development, a subsidiary company set up by Ecos Trust, which aims to demonstrate in real life terms the potential and practicalities of a new ecological approach to sustainable building and living.
